PETS FOR SENIORS
Approved Senior Citizens can now have their adoption fee waived when matched up with a senior pet or other approved pet.  Studies reveal that Pet ownership has been found to decrease loneliness, increase mental alertness and build self-esteem, especially within the elderly population. For many, animal ownership improves quality of life and may even have a positive impact on longevity.

Our Barn Cat Program

Shelby Humane Society sometimes has cats who cannot live as house pets. Cats in our barn cat program may be shy or fearful of people, independent and prefer the outdoor life or have poor litterbox habits.  These cats do not have other options
Our barn cat program is ideal for property owners with barns and other out buildings.  Having a barn cat or cats will help keep down the rodent population. And, because these cats are already spayed/neutered, you won't have to worry about endless litters of kittens appearing!
All cats available for adoption to barns are spayed/neutered (ear tipped if feral) and vaccinated.  Adoption fees are waived on these cats but donations to help cover their medical cost are appreciated.   If you would like more information regarding this program please email info@shelbyhumane.org
