To care for homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals and educate the community to instill an increased awareness and commitment to the responsibility of animal ownership and protection.

To establish a strong collaboration between Shelby Humane and the community that fosters the successful adoption for all shelter animals, reduces the number of unwanted animals in our community, and promoting proper pet identification. Shelby Humane seeks to develop and maintain a positive public image and to serve as a resource that the public turns to for support and advice in the many facets of animal welfare.

We educate the community about what it means to and how they can be responsible pet owners
We offer presentations, cuddle corners, and school programs along with multiple vaccine and microchip clinics yearly.
We provide Spay & Neuter subsidies for low income pet owners
We provide assistance with food and pet supplies, emergency fostering and vet care.

We take in strays brought to us by
Shelby County Animal Control +
the City of Hoover
We house unclaimed strays for a 7-day hold period
We vaccinate and spay and neuter all of our animals
